Gaborik to Montreal or LA?

The latest rumor is sending Gaborik to Montreal.  In return, Minnesota would get Chris Higgins, Jarsolav Halak, Ryan McDonaugh and a 1st entry pick in 2009.

Halak is a new one, that shouldn’t sound reassuring to Josh Harding fans, even if he goes the other way to Montreal. 

Will anyone pick up Gaborik for the rumored 10-year, $90 million contract he seems to want?  The global economic uncertainty may prevent it (notwithstanding he got hurt playing hackey sack – now folks, isn’t this a stupid game to play for a guy with a history of groin troubles?).  On another note, maybe we should eliminate all Canadian teams from getting involved in that kind of contract, the dollar went below 80 cents this morning.  With all contracts in American dollars, this has added 20-25% to all Canadian dollar conversions for salary from just a few months ago, yet no one seems to be talking about it.  It will come up soon.
